Archbishop pins his Hopes on Altar Boys for Vocations

Silchar, Aug 27 Archbishop Dominic Jala of Shillong exhorted the altar boys to be `regular for the Eucharist so that the seed of vocation can grow and mature` in them. The prelate was speaking at the thanksgiving Eucharist celebrated together with all priests and religious that hailed from Mawlai parish on 24th August 2014 at the Parish Church. The event, organized as part of the yearlong celebrations of the ongoing platinum jubilee of the parish, was an occasion to thank God for the 75 years of blessings together with the parishioners and the 16 priests and 53 religious nuns that hailed from its villages.  Read More »

Kolkata, Aug 27 The President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee visited Don Bosco Catholic Church Palsondamore, in West Bengal, on 24 August, 2014, and laid the foundation stone for a mini hospital under the parish. It was a historic event in the annals of this small Parish of the diocese of Krishnagar, W.B., with a majority tribal population. Silchar, Aug 27 St. Dominic Savio Parish Mawlai, Shillong, brought together all priests and religious from the parish in a unique gathering it organized on 24th August 2014, in connection with the ongoing yearlong celebrations of its Platinum Jubilee. The impressive line up of 15 priests and 53 religious sisters included six Salesian priests. Prominent among them were Archbishop Dominic Jala, the Archbishop of Shillong, Fr. Silchar, Aug 27 The Don Bosco Bicentenary celebrations in Mizoram commenced with the hoisting of the Bicentenary Flag atop the Seling Church on 16th August 2014. Fr. James Puthenthara, the Parish priest, in a message delivered after the flag hoisting, said the prominence that Mizo society gives to young people, is ``indeed a Salesian trait`` and makes Mizoram a unique destination for the Salesians. Guwahati, Aug 23 In a glittering ceremony attended by a host of distinguished persons, educationists, college and school students and parents, the Don Bosco Junior College Diphu in Karbi Anglong District of Assam was inaugurated on 22nd August. The Chief Guest, Shri Dominic Uphing Maslai, the Executive Member i/c Higher Education in the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, unveiled the inaugural plaque, which was blessed by Dr. Paul Mattekatt, the Bishop of Diphu. Fr. V. M. Thomas, the Salesian Provincial of Guwahati, dedicated the Junior College to the people of Karbi Anglong.
