Foundation laid for new skill development centre

Guwahati, Aug 19 The foundation ceremony for a new skill development institute with an aim to provide job-oriented training programmes to the unemployed youth of the region was laid in a glittering function held at St. Joseph`s Mission, Barpeta Road on 18th August. Rev Fr. VM Thomas, the provincial laid the foundation for the construction of the new centre. In his speech, he called on those gathered to extend all possible support in order to make the dreams of young people of the region come true. Hyderabad, Aug 18 Celebrations of PARA`s One Hundred Seasons (25 years) of Journey with Dalit Bahujans drew to a close on 16 August with multi-layered events at Ravulapalem, East Godavari (A.P.). The main events were the blessing and inauguration of `Surakshita`, the Home for Women in Distress, by Rev. Fr Raminedi Balaraju sdb (Salesian Provincial) and Sr Mary George (Vice Provincial, MSMHC), the flagging of the State level campaign against corporal punishments in schools by Prof. Madabhushi Sridhar (Central Information Commissioner), and the Public Meeting at the premises of Ekalavya Training Centre. Guwahati Province marks the start of DB`s Bicentenary with Blessings
Guwahati, Aug 17 Thirty Salesians on 16 August started in the morning for a pilgrimage to Sashipur on the international border with Bhutan. The purpose was the blessing and dedication of the Don Bosco Church. It was an important event in the history of the province as it joined the rest of the world in the celebration of the opening of the bi-centenary year of Don Bosco`s birth. The day marked also the opening of the yearlong celebrations in all the Salesian communities of the province. Silchar, Aug 16 Shillong: The Salesian Family of Shillong-Silchar region held the inauguration of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco`s birth at Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai, 16th August 2014.
