(ANS - Panama City) - ``We have started again after our wonderful meeting in Krakow, where we celebrated the XXXI World Youth Day,`` wrote Pope Francis. ``At the end of the WYD in Krakow, I indicated the next goal of our pilgrimage which, with God`s help, will take us to Panama in 2019. The Virgin Mary will accompany us along this path, she who all generations shall call blessed.`` The Youth Ministry Dicastery, in contact with the leaders of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) in Central America, began the work of organizing and planning what will be the feast of all those who share the Salesian charism.. |Mumbai, OCT. 12. The Salesians of the Mumbai Province met on October 11, 2018 at the Don Bosco Provincial House Matunga, Mumbai for the 1st session of the Provincial Chapter 2019. The large gathering of the capitulars, including the ex-officio members, the moderator, the rectors, the elected local delegates, the province delegates and 3 representatives added up to a grand total of 69.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mr Conrad Sangma inaugurated the new gallery on Natural Resources and Housing Pattern at Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures (DBCIC) at Mawlai Phudmuri, Shillong, Meghalaya, India on 8th October 2018. He stressed on documentations of cultural history of tribes and other communities to ensure that people especially younger generation became aware of their roots.

|Shillong, OCT. 8. Shillong: Parish day in Sohra Parish was celebrated this year on 6-7 October with extra enthusiasm and fervour. In the afternoon of Saturday 6th October, we had a Choir Singing Competition. Up to 10 Choir groups of young people from the various villages took part in this beautiful event. The melodious songs of these young people on the theme of ``the young people in the Society of today`` filled the whole afternoon with such a delightful feeling. Though most of these groups came from the villages, there was a touch of class in their performance! That was indeed a fitting introduction to the Parish Day!. More »|

|Mumbai, OCT. 5. The Don Bosco High School, Matunga has been ranked first amongst India`s Top 5 Green schools in India in the Education World Grand Jury Awards 2018. At the same survey, the school ranked India`s#9, Maharashtra#5 and Mumbai`s #4 Boys Day School in the Education World India School Rankings 2018-19.

|Kolkata, OCT. 17. Bandel -- A Salesian Brother who served as Provincial Secretary to 3 provincials marks his diamond jubilee, 21st October 2018. A confidant of 3 Italian provincials, he was also trained in audiovisual catechesis in 1970s in Italy and France. He was also instrumental in bringing out the first regular and almost monthly Calcutta province newsletter in Salesian India in the early 1970s.
Today, out of 269 confreres in Kolkata province, there are 18 Salesian Brothers and leading their list is Br Chacko Kunnathupurayidom - 84 years, the jubilarian.. More »|

|Kolkata, OCT. 16. Darjeeling -- Salesian College Sonada Sociology department organised Ethnic Day 2018 with an hour-long program consisting of speeches and dances as well as Powerpoint presentations on ethnic groups of Darjeeling, Monday 15 October.
The auditorium event was followed by ethnic food fest by 10 departments putting up ethnic food stalls. The fest was a pre-puja (pre-phool patti) exercise by students and faculty.. More »|

|Hyderabad, OCT. 10. On Sunday, 7th October 2018, after 32 years of continuous service for the cause of the dis-advantaged people, Father Thomas Pallithanam was given a tearful yet joyful send off at Ravulapalem (Andhra Pradesh, India), launching him into his new assignment at New York. Earlier, his work at PARA had brought him and the children of the Human Rights Clubs to the corridors of the United Nations. Now from New York and the UN platform he will be able to reach out to more than 130 countries as he now represents the International Forum of the Salesians of Don Bosco at the UN. The send off was combined with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of his Religious Profession as a Salesian of Don Bosco. . More »|
