In a solemn Eucharistic celebration held at Don Bosco School Ooodlabari on 23 May 2019, cleric Minj made his life-long commitment to the Lord and his people in the Salesian Society.

The celebrations started on time at 10.00 am under Master of Ceremonies Br. Peter Lepcha, a student of theology at Kristu Jyoti College Bangalore.

After Rector of Ooodlabari Fr Sanjay Manohar Kujur presented the candidate for perpetual profession, former parish priest Fr Alexander Topno led the faithful in singing the Litany of the Saints in Hindi.

''It is a rare privilege for any one to make his perpetual profession in the presence of the one who prepared you for the first vows,'' said Deonis Minj who made his vows in the presence of former Provincial and his director of Novices Fr John Berger who took the place of Kolkata provincial Fr Nirmol Gomes who could not be present.

Senior Salesians from Kolkata - parish priest of Liluah Fr. V.T. Antony and Bursar of Bandel Basilica Fr M.D. George were concelebrants and official witnesses.

Joining Fr Berger were 17 Salesian priests and several Brother students and practical trainees of neighbouring communities in North Bengal as well as Salesian Sisters.

A 23 member choir of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians candidates along with 35 member summer camp youth (class X and XI) enlivened the liturgy with their singing.

The son of late Mr Theophil Minj and Mrs. Veronica Minj of Washabari Tea Estate, Deonis was born on 16 January 1990. After completing his primary education in the Tea Garden school Deonis studied at St Bartholomew High School at Mall Bazar and did his aspirantate at Don Bosco Bandel.
