By Cl. Thumma Pradeep
Hyderabad, Nov. 4. Don Bosco Rehabilitation Centre (DBRC), Ramanthapur was blessed on 3 November with the visit of Fr Fabio Attard, Salesian General Councilor for Youth Ministry and his team, and the provincial Delegates of Don Bosco Youth Animation - South Asia. Fr Attard was accompanied by Hyderabad Salesian Provincial Fr Balaraju, and Fr Miguel Angel a youth pastoral team member from Rome, and 35 delegates from the 11 provinces of India and Srilanka. DBRC is to Hyderabad Province what Valdocco was for the Salesians at the  inception of their Society in Turin.

All the inmates of the DBRC and staff members gathered at the gate to receive the honourable guests with a traditional welcome of arati, and the Rector Fr Sudhakar Bellamkonda welcomed them with a uthariyam. The guests were then accompanied by the band to the hall for a short programme, felicitation and short presentation of the YaR services in the province with a special emphasis on the child safety net, Human rights education and OOTA (well springs), by Fr TD John.

Fr Sudhakar welcoming the chief guest and other guests to the Don Bosco Navajeevan homes said that it is a privilege to have so many Salesians visiting these children during this year of Bicentenary of the birth of Don Bosco. He said that their presence would make them feel that they do belong to the large Salesian Family. He also briefed them about the activities carried out at Don Bosco Navajevan in Hyderabad with special mention of the success stories of the past pupils.

During the short programme Fr Attard, Fr Balaraju, Fr Miguel Angel and Rgional Youth Delegate Fr Maria Charles were felicitated by the children of the institute. The programme concluded with a band piece 'showers of blessing', performed by the children.

Fr Attard in his message said that he had spent five years in the Technical school at Malta and he knew about the work and services offered in skill training, and used to tell the boys, ''We are here to help you for your bright & glorious future. If you are not going to make use of our service your life will be in vain. Life is a challenge, it is up to you whether to accept it or to deny it.'' He concluded with a message he received from one of his old students on the facebook: ''In Don Bosco I had a home and I got a good future.''

After the programme some of the visitors took a tour to the non-formal training centre, namely, printing press, computer section, garment making & Tailoring, Carpentry, Welding and Bakery. As the visitors were leaving the campus the children were restless to tie friendship bands as a token of gratitude for their visit to make them happy.
