Cultural Welcome to Don Bosco at Motinagar
By Santiagu Thomas
Hyderabad, Sep. 7. September 07, 2011 was a memorable day for the two thousand children, the college students,  the staff, the Salesians, past pupils and the parents of Don Bosco, Motinagar.  They gave a grand and homely welcome to their patron Saint.  The sight of the young children waving the flags and shouting slogans welcoming Don Bosco was a sight to behold.  Glowing tributes were paid to Don Bosco by the students, staff and past pupils of this 30 year old institute.
A well organised reception started with the children welcoming the relics of Don Bosco with an Arathi dance. This was followed by the guard of honour given by the NCC students of the school.  Fr Raminedi Balaraju, the provincial officially handed over the casket of Don Bosco to the Rector, Fr. James Kudiyiripil.  The well coordinated programme helped all gathered to further their knowledge, love and admiration for Don Bosco. The journey of the casket from the entrance of the school to the stage was a sight to watch as children dressed in beautiful attires, with dances and band accompanied the casket.

This was followed by the prayer and blessing of the casket.  The Don Bosco school choir sang some melodious songs on Don Bosco.  The children, the staff and the past pupils paid homage to Don Bosco in their own way through dances, speeches and sharing of their memories.  What was striking is the fact that all the people gathered there were immersed in the feeling of awe at the presence of their patron saint.

In the afternoon we had a meaningful Eucharistic celebration participated by the students, the staff, the past pupils and the parishioners of Borabanda Parish.  This was well coordinated by Fr Jose Androth, the parish Priest.  Rev. Fr John Lens, the pioneer of the Institute,  graced the occasion with his presence.  His hard work, commitment, and love for Don Bosco was very much appreciated and acknowledged by the people gathered there.  He was given a memento of Don Bosco in appreciation of all that he did and continues to do for the province.  After the holy Eucharist the whole gathering bade farewell to Don Bosco as the casket was taken to Don Bosco Navajeevan, Ramanthapur. All the programs were well coordinated by Fr. Balthasar, the Principal of the school with the help of the teachers.
