Yercaud Night Study Centres celebrate Annual Day
By James SDB
Tiruchy, Mar. 5. Though Salesians have no school in Yercaud, they manage study centres in the evenings helping students with their academic requirements. These centres are called Night Schools and scholastics from The Retreat, Yercaud, take turns to teach at these centres. 250 children from seven such night schools gathered at The Retreat, for the annual day celebrations on March 04, 2012.

It served as much needed break for the students just before the beginning of the final exams. The highlight of the day was the lively cultural programme. Each night school wanted to excel and win the audience`s applause. Indeed it was a healthy competition - towards excellence. In his address, the Chief Guest-Parish Priest of Nagalur, motivated the students to study well in order to do well in life. He advised the children ``develop your personal skills in order to scale greater heights in your lives.`` He also gave away the prizes to the meritorious students and to the winners of the competitions.
