The age-old Phool-Patti Day (the day for the celebration of the flora) in the entire hills with traditional fervour, pomp and gaiety marks the beginning of Durga Puja holidays. In the morning of phool patti day, people in their ethnic dresses flock the streets and hold processions carrying banana stalks and sugar canes as part of the age-old traditions.

SCS students raised the monies to invest into their food stalls providing ethnic varieties of snacks and meat dishes.
''The proceeds of the fest will be kept for departmental activities,'' says HoD Sociology Miss Sumina Chhetri.

Besides food stalls there were also chance games like, darts, draw the tail, song dedication, karaoke, jail and even sale of stem roses.

Kurseong Television HAMRO TV made an extensive coverage of the event going to each stall and interviewing students and their food speciality on offer. The TV crew also interviewed Coordinator of the fest Miss Sumina Chhetri and Campus Coordinator Dr Terence Mukhia.
