About 340 people from the locality, both young and old, lined up for the seven hour camp that began at 10.00 am. The event was jointly sponsored by Eye Pavilion Kolkata and the Rotary Club of Central Calcutta. Six doctors and two assistants tested patients during the day.

The first patient to be examined was Mr Daroga, one of the retired school staff. He was among some 220 people who were prescribed spectacles. They will return to school on 5th February to collect their free spectacles.

There were 46 cases detected for surgery which will be conducted free of cost in the Eye Pavilion after due free check ups like ECG, and blood test. The remaining patients examined during the four-hour camp were prescribed medication.

``We started this free eye camp some ten years ago during the time of Fr Albert (Thottunkal),`` recalled Mr Tapan Das, an alumnus of the 1968 batch.

``It is commendable that both Day and Night School Alumni are working together to organize the camp logistics,`` Mr Das added.

Besides sponsoring the event, Mr. Manoj Jain, Past Pupil of Don Bosco School Imphal and currently Secretary of Rotary Club of Central Calcutta, also visited and encouraged the alumni.

Also, in February, DB Alumni of Park Circus will hold a Free check up camp for  Osteoporosis.

Dear Father, Hope you are fine thanks for the news from last year eye camp now put up on BIS. We are thankful for your kind notice of this event, which night school past pupils had started in the year 2000. The people who gave that information, mislead you. Eye camp was started by night school alumni in year 2000. And the first camp was held in collaboration with EYE Pavilion and entirely paidup for specs by then unit president Mr. Sarwar Ali. I have seen your report on word press also regarding the same program, the bunch of people shown in photographs are not responsible for the program. I should not have written this to you but by doing so I would do injustice to DBNS and DBPC past pupils who worked day and night to make this successful. Thank you Father again, we need your blessings that God gives us enough strength to stand beside more and more events for the youth and less privileged peoples of our society in Father Bosco's way.
