Fr. M.A. Joseph Receives Governor`s Award

Kolkata, Jul. 17. On 7th July 2010 at 4.00 p.m. Fr. M.A. Joseph - Principal of Don Bosco Siliguri along with 23 other scout officials from the various districts of West Bengal, received the Medal of Merit for meritorious service to the Scout Movement from His Excellency, the Governor of W. Bengal, Mr. N.K. Narayanan, at the 13th Rajyapuraskar Award giving ceremony at the Raj Bhawan in Kolkata.
Fr. M.A. Joseph is the District Commissioner ( Scouts ) for the past few years  in Siliguri and has been promoting the Scout Movement in the various Don Bosco institutions in Bengal for  the past twenty years or so. He was involved in the organization of a number of national Scout meets namely the BOSCOREE ( All India Don Bosco Scouts and Guides meet). He was in the organizing Committee of the very first National Boscoree in India. He was the Convener of the  6th National Boscoree at Don Bosco Liluah and participated with a group of scouts at the National Boscorees at Dodballapur, Bangalore and Munnuthy in Kerala. He also organized the Scouts and Guides camp for the scouts and Guides of all Salesian Schools of Eastern India called Juboree at Don Bosco Krishnagar in the year 2003 and again at Don Bosco Siliguri in the year 2005. Currently he is getting his scout troop  at Don Bosco Siliguri ready for the forthcoming National Boscoree to be held at Don Bosco Dimapur in Nagaland in December this year.

The Medal of Merit awarded by the Governor is the highest state level award for a scout official. Along with him 109 scouts and guides from the state also received their Rajyapuraskar from the Governor. Among them eight scouts were from Siliguri and three were from Don Bosco School Siliguri itself.
