By Fr. Jose Parappully sdb
Hyderabad, Nov. 5. With deep sense of sorrow and loss I am passing on to you the sad news (received this morning through Fr. Kuriakose Pallikunnel)  that Fr. ATUL PAUL NEDUMPARAMBIL  IMS,  the Secretary of The Conference of Catholic Psychologists,
(CCPI) returned to his Creator yesterday, 4th November, evening. The  funeral will take place at IMS House, Alapuzha at 10 am on Saturday, 6th November. May I request those of you who are in the neighbourhood of Alapuzha to attend the funeral, if possible.
The CCPI President-Elect, Fr. Kuriakose Pallikunnel, will be visiting before the funeral and laying a wreath on behalf of the CCPI. (Fr. Kuriakose's niece too has passed away, and he will be attending her funeral, and will not be at Atul's funeral.)

I want to place on record here the great service that Atul has rendered the Conference of Catholic Psychologists during these past three years as the CCPI Secretary. More than his services, he was a very decent and loving human being whom we will all miss. May he rest in peace in God and enjoy his heavenly rewards.

I also convey my deepest condolences to his dear ones and the IMS family, particularly members of his Province, who are grieving his death, and assure them of our prayers.

When Fr. Atul came to Hyderabad he was already complaining of knee pain and that he would have to undergo an operation on his return. Fr. C.M. Joseph informed on 1st November that on his return from Hyderabad, he had undergone a surgery for his knee at a hospital in  Thodupuzha. But soon he developed trouble with ulcer. He was bleeding continuously. As this hospital could not manage, he was shifted to another hospital in Thodupuzha itself. As the bleeding persisted, he was shifted to Lourdes Hospital, Ernakulam. That too was of no help. Finally he was shifted to Lakeshore hospital, in Cochin. There the bleeding was arrested. But then suddenly his kidneys developed trouble. So he had to undergo dialysis. His whole body was swollen up and was taken to the ICU. When Fr. Kuriakose Pallikunnel visited Atul at Lakeshore hospital on 3rd, Fr. Atul's condition had worsened significantly. He was unconscious and the doctors were not able to operate on him. He died yesterday evening, 4th November 2010.
