Father Cletus Sebastian SDB, Director of the institute welcomed the guests. He highlighted the achievements of the institute in the last three years. More than 5000 youngsters have gone through the portals of the institute attending various programmes. Don Bosco's vision of uplifting the marginalized is being realized, he added.

The Chief Guest invited the youth present to create a world of peace. He said ''the word 'peace' is not a magical word. It's a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly process and it should be an ongoing process. Every individual can make the difference, let's begin today.''

Dr. Bhuyan a renowned humanitarian of Tezpur described peace from many perspectives: individual, home, school, village, state, national and international. He said 'when you are good to others you will be best for yourself.'

Father Johnson the Executive Director Don Bosco Institute Guwahati invited the youth to believe in the possibility of peace; to think peace, speak peace and do those actions that will promote peace. He further said that as our world is getting more and more globalized, we need to cultivate habits, values and attitudes that will bring peace. He also emphasized that our ethnicity and our diversity are not a liability but our true strength.

Mr. Susihl Golcha, a prominent Rotarian from Tezpur said that the mind is a terrible thing. ''The mind can bring peace and joy like that of Mother Teresa as well as put an atom bomb like that of Hiroshima and destroy the humanity from this earth.''

Dr Koshi MD of Baptist Mission Hospital Tezpur invited the youth to kill the ego that destroys peace. ''Let the other become more important than me,'' he said. ''The key ingredients for peace are education, health and poverty reduction,'' he added. Each one should possess humanness first and value people.

Prof. Rupali Daimari, Professor Tezpur College exhorted the youth by saying that service to humanity should be the priority and this can bring peace in the society.
There were many students representatives who spoke vehemently about what the youth should do to promote peace.
The thematic items presented in between the talks added colour to the programme. The programme was attended by 600 youngsters from various institutions of Tezpur.
