Be Agents of Change and make Society Tobacco and Drug free
Dimapur, Nov. 29. Youth Department of Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) in collaboration with ANMA Integrated Development Association (AIDA) conducted `Tobacco cum Drug Addiction Camp` for the students and street children at Institute of Development and Leadership (IDL) building, River Belt Colony on 27th November. District Nodal Officer National Tobacco Control Programme Dr. C. Tetseo was the resource person, he was assisted by his Mrs. Dr. Arenla.
In his multimedia presentation, Dr. Tetseo pointed out the addictive nature of tobacco and drug. He said that tobacco has many poisonous ingredients which cause various diseases: in the mouth, teeth, difficulty in opening the mouth, heart attack, lungs, damage of blood vessels, decay of fingers and toes. Besides it causes lips, wind pipe and throat cancer. Speaking about the second hand smoker, he remarked that it affects ear, causes pneumonia, asthma, TB in children and abnormality in babies when inhaled by pregnant women.

Don Bosco Hr. Sec. Vice-Principal Father Michael Hriiyio Phimu exhorted the participants to avoid all types of tobacco and drugs related products and stay healthy. He invited all to become the agents of change and make our society tobacco free.

Earlier, Youth Director of SCHE Father Christudoss Anthony welcomed the resource person, guests and all the participants. He mentioned that tobacco and drugs are ruining health, morality, future and lives of our people in general. He stressed that all right thinking people should cooperate with government`s effort to eradicate tobacco use and create a healthier society and brighter future for our younger generation.
