Salesian Formation trains scholastic to minister in diverse and ever- changing environments
By Matheus Siangshai sdb
Shillong, Oct. 16. The meeting of Practical Trainees' of Shillong Province was held at the Provincial House, 7-9 Oct 2016. 18 young Salesians  took part in the three-day meeting.
The session on 'vocation' was taken by Father Olphindro  helped the youngsters to reflect on their own vocation story. Using the analogy of 'River Mee' a video presentation, he likened one's vocation to the story of the small and insignificant river that turns into a mighty ocean.

Deacon Stephen Biswakarma's session on ''Social Media and its addiction'' helped the participants reflect on the impact that media exerts on the  young and also the Salesians. He proposed ways and means to take advantage of the tremendous power that media has without becoming a slave to it.

Brother Albert Dkhar's session on ''Professional Ethics and Teachers' Accountability'' helped the young Salesians get familiar with the National Education Policy and Don Bosco's Preventive System of education. Using innovative methods and value-based games, Br. Albert exhorted the participants to be creative, proactive and prudent in their teaching methods.

The brothers also got to see the movie,  ''Beyond the Blackboard'', a classroom story depicting teacher student dynamics.

The Group sharing session in which each individual shared about the way he experienced the ministry of practical training proved to be an enriching session for everyone. Summing up the sharing, Father Vice Provincial encouraged the brothers to forge ahead with joy and enthusiasm.

On 9 October, the last day of the meeting, the brothers went on a pilgrimage to Don Bosco Shrine, Sohra where they renewed their commitment before the relic of St. John Bosco.
