Two Professors Keep Jubilee in Rome

International, May. 1. ROME -- The Salesian University (UPS) vice-province celebrated province day, 1 May, with jubilee celebrations of 13 professors. Among them were two professors from India. Fr Francis Vincent (INM) had silver jubilee of priestly ordination while Fr Joshtrom Kureethadam (INH) kept silver jubilee of religious profession. Fr Joaquim D`Souza (INB) presided over jubilee Eucharistic celebrations held at the famous Sanctuary of our Lady of Divine Love, Rome.

Fr. Francis Vincent Anthony
Francis Vincent (56) born in Mumbai did his Philosophy studies at Yercaud (1974-76) and 3-year Diploma Course in Printing Technology at SIGA Chennai (1976-79). After two year regency at St Bede`s Chennai he completed BTh studies at UPS Rome and was ordained priest at St Peter`s Basilica, 2 June 1985, by Pope John Paul II.
He completed MTh in Youth Ministry and catechesis at UPS (1985-87) and was Vice-rector at The Retreat Yercaud (1987-88) and was Assistat Director at Viswadeep Bangalore (1988-89).
Fr Francis returned to UPS to complete Doctroate in Theology (1989-1993) and was appointed adjunct professor at the UPS (1993) and Associate Professor of Fundamental Practical Theology (1998). He was Vice Recotr at Rome Theology Student Community Gerini (1993-1997) and Economer of Don Rua Community (2001-2004).
His is also Visiting professor at Scalabrini International Migration Institute; Pontifical Urbanian University (Rome); Institute of Religious Sciences, St. Thomas Pontifical University (Rome); and Kristu Jyoti College (Bangalore).
Currently director of Institute of Pastoral Theology (UPS) Fr Vincent also coordinates Interfaculty Commission for Research at UPS.
Besides being Vice President of International Society of Empirical Research in Theology (ISERT), Fr Vincent is Member of International Academy of Practical Theology (IAPT); International Association of Catholic Missiologists (IACM) and Consultant Editorial Board of Journal of Empirical Theology.
An avid proponent of Empirical Theology, Fr Francis has undertaken 8 major research projects as well as 8 books and edited works to his credit.

Fr Joshtrom Isaac Kureethadam
Born at Elanji (Kerala) Fr Joshtrom (44) made his first profession at Mount Don Bosco Kotagiri in Tamilnadu, 24 May 1985. After completing MA in Philosophy from Jnanadeepa Vidya Peeth - Pontifical Atheneum, Pune (1989) he did one year regency at Salesian College Dimapur (Nagaland) and two years in St John`s Major Seminary, Kondadaba (Andhra). From 1992-1997 he pursued Bachelor`s and Master`s degrees in Theology at the Salesian University (UPS) Rome and was ordained priest 27 July 1996.
After serving as principal at Vishwa Jyothi - DB College of Philosophy, Karunapuram, Warangal, Andhra (1997-2001), Fr Joshtrom was Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, UPS (2002-2004) He spent a year as Research Scholar at Campion Hall, University of Oxford (2004-05) and returned to Rome 2005-2007 to teach while doing doctoral studies in Philosophy at the Gregorian University. He was on the Formation Team at Rome`s Gerini Theologate and is Secretary, Faculty of Philosophy, UPS since 2006.
In November 2007 Fr Joshtrom completed doctorate in Philosophy and was made Adjunct Professor. Currently he occupies the Chair of Philosophy of Science while teaching the following courses: Philosophy of Science; History of Scientific Thought; Ecology and Environmental Philosophy.
He has published several articles in the area of: philosophy of science; environmental sciences; environ-mental philosophy and creation theology.

Indians at the UPS
Among over 40 Salesians from India in the UPS-Rome Vice-Province are the Superior (Fr Joaquim D`Souza, INB) and Rector of Don Rua community (Fr Jose Chunkapura, INC). There are also 12 Professors and over 30 Salesian students spread out among eight communities in the vice-province.
