Reading out the comments made by the Indian and foreign examiners of who went through the dissertation of Father Bastin titled 'The Impact of Psycho-social and Demographic Variables on Interpersonal Disclosure, Intimacy and Deception in Computer Mediated Communication among College Students in Kerala', Dr. G. Ravindran pointed out that it is rarely that Indian researches come in for such high praise from European examiners and that Father Bastin's work in that respect is a proud Indian contribution to the discipline of communication, especially the sector of computer mediated communication.

Presenting the findings of his research Fr. Bastin said that he has been in campuses with youngsters for more than a decade now, observing the way they communicate, and the ways in which style changes take place in their communication. Citing statistics he said that interpersonal communication continues to hold sway among college students in terms of preference and effectiveness in spite of the onslaught of social media. 'There is a connection between one's level of self esteem and communication mode preferences'. He pointed out. The study indicates that gender too is an influencing variable in interpersonal communication as boys under study were found to prefer computer mediated communication more than the girls under study.

Dr. Natarajan, the guide of Father Bastin described him as a diligent student and commented on his academic discipline. 'But for the red tapism in the University this defense would have finished long back; he said. Father Bastin was emotional in his expression of gratitude to the guide and thanked him for the gentle accompaniment all the while.

Father Jose, Koyickal, Vice-provincial, Bangalore Province, Father Varghese Thannippara, Rector of Mannuthy College community to which Father Bastin now belongs, Father Koonan Thomas, Rector of Don Bosco Angadikadavu, where Father Bastin was serving as Head of the Department of Communication, Father Freddie Perrira, the chancellor of the province of Bangalore, Frs.
