South Asia Team Visit in Bangalore
By George Mathew SDB
Bangalore, Mar. 2. The Rector Major, Rev Pascual Chavez, inaugurated the Team Visit of South Asia Region on 01 March. It is attended by 99 confreres from India and Sri Lanka.
The Team Visit of South Asia Region began on 01 March with the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by the Rector Major. The First session of the Team Visit opened with a meaningful prayer after which the Rector Major placed in context the idea and the relevance of the Team Visit for the region and the congregation at large. In his very well developed theme, he brought to the attention of the 99 participants the significance of this exercise which leads to further study of the situation of the congregation by a special session of the General Council during which it would also deliberate the focus of the next General Chapter based on the findings of the team visit in all regions.

Fr. Maria Arokiam, the Regional Councillor for South Asia, contextualized the meeting with information on the region, the report from the previous team visit as well as the collated responses from the participants on various topics and expectation of such visit.

The rest of the day saw mainly two presentations namely on the Centrality of God and our Charismatic Identity by Fr. Jose Kuttianimattathil and on Evangelization and Mission Thrust by Fr. Jayapalan Raphael. Fr. Adriano Bregolin and Fr. Fabio Attard presented short responses to these themes in the light of the situation and development in the congregation globally.

The team visit is a clear manifestation of the dreams and the directions that the congregation in the region is seeking as well as moments of real fellowship and family spirit. The workshop in smaller groups on the themes presented during the day helped to anchor on the subject and look for clearer lines of action to be taken. The moments of prayer and fellowship are a great experience of the true Salesian Family Spirit.

The participants look forward to the deliberations that will follow till 5 March that will surely lead to renewal and starting afresh from Don Bosco in order to find ourselves `growing up as a region`.
