Wholesome Well-being during COVID-19 Lockdown by INK Salesians

The Salesians of Don Bosco, Bangalore Province, in collaboration with BREADS, the Development Office of the Province, have left no stone unturned regarding the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs of people during the COVID-19 lockdown. The Salesian institutions across Kerala and Karnataka have offered 10,000 food kits to 16629 persons as of now and many more in the future. The cooked food packets are being distributed to 1050 persons daily from the two Salesian centres. 61000 masks were stitched by Don Bosco tailoring centres, SHG women and volunteers and distributed to hospital staff, police personnel, health officials, vendors, shop keepers and the general public. The Salesians, faculty and students at Don Bosco College Angadikadavu are bracing the Covid-19 crisis, amidst lockdown and physical distancing, to reach out to the needy with food kits. Each provision kit worth Rs. 1000/- contains rice, wheat flour, pulses, oil, vegetables and other edibles for a 07 days. About 20 deserving families have been helped thus far in the vicinity of the College campus that currently functions as a quarantine care centre under the District Administration of Kannur.. The XIV Provincial Chapter of the Sacred Heart Province of Bangalore was off to a glittering start at the Kristu Jyoti College Auditorium in Bangalore on Sunday 28th May, 2019. In the presence of 95 delegates, 14 observers and the moderator Father Sivy Koroth, Father Joyce Thonikuzhiyil, Salesian Provincial of Bangalore declared the Provincial Chapter open. Sister Celine Jacob the provincial of the FMAs Bangalore, Sister Reji Chacko, the provincial of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians (MSMHC), Sister Carol Kuttiyanikal the provincial of the sisters of Mary Immaculate (SMI), the province level delegates of the different members of the Salesian family such as co-operators, past pupils, VDB and ADMA, were present on the occasion and felicitated the gathering. . The recent floods in Kerala which marred the topography of Kerala and rendered millions homeless is limping back to normalcy with the invaluable service offered by several volunteers. Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Mannuthy, Thrissur is on the forefront in the mission to rebuild houses of the affected. A South Asia ACSSA Seminar on ''Incisive and Innovative Salesian Personalities of India''

The third continental seminar of ACSSA South Asia was held from 22 to 24 June 2018 at the Provincial House of the Hyderabad Province with 16 participants comprising of 7 Salesians and 9 Salesian Sisters, representing four Salesian and the seven FMA provinces respectively. Father Thathireddy Vijay Bhaskar, Provincial of Hyderabad, presided over the inaugural session. In his presidential address he highlighted the importance of a faithful recording of history. Father Thomas Anchukandam, Director of Istituto Storico Salesiano, Rome, gave the keynote address, stressing the exigency of continuity in the documented history of religious institutes, which calls for conviction, commitment and competence on the part of the one called to this mission. .
