AGARTALA - Tripura can boast of being the first state in India to honour Don Bosco during his relic pilgrimage with the installation of a statue. The 7 feet statue of Don Bosco flanked by two young people is set on a 9 feet pedestal. Tripura Plans Lasting Homage with Don Bosco Statue

AGARTALA - Tripura could be the only state in the entire northeast India honouring Don Bosco with a lasting memory by erecting his statue to commemorate the DB Relic visit, 14 to 16 June. A 7 feet statue of Don Bosco is to be unveiled by Shri Jitendra Choudhury, Minister for Rural Development, Forest, Industry & Commerce, Govt. of Tripura at Bankumari Junction on the main road adjacent to Don Bosco and Auxilium schools. GUWAHATI - In an unprecedented gesture the All Assam Students Union or AASU will pay homage to the Relic of the Father and Friend of Youth Don Bosco visiting Guwahti these days. ROME - The Administrator of the International Theological Studies centre at Gerini Institute Rome, Prof. Sergio Pierbattisti, a former missionary in Africa, released a new book on Mother Teresa, 27 May. The book entitled: Mother Teresa and the Globalizing World is the doctoral thesis of Salesian Fr Antony Vayalil of Kolkata who completed his PhD in Missiology from the Gregorian University Rome, in June 2008.. GUWAHATI - The Chief Minister of Assam Shri Tarun Gogoi is scheduled to release a documentary on the Salesian Family`s contribution to northeast India, 30 May, 6.00 pm during the BOSCONITE at Don Bosco Institute of Management (DBIM), Kharghuli. DIMPAUR - In a major organizational feat, Don Bosco Alumni Dimapur provincial federation liaisoned with Salesian Family, governmental and non-governmental agencies, organizations and communities during the 26 day and 89 venue St John Bosco Relics pilgrimage through northeast India. The first leg of the India tour of the relics started in Imphal (Manipur) on 29 April and concluded on 24 May at Dimapur Provincial House after covering four states and six dioceses. The Dimapur province Alumni Federation which started 30 years ago in Tamenglong (Manipur) today has 10 units with some 800 members.. Read More »
