A priest who worked for street children in various Indian cities for over 33 years died on March 19. Salesian Father Anthony Thaiparambil died at Don Bosco Provincial House New Delhi. He was 84. His funeral is scheduled to be held in the Salesian cemetery at Okhla, New Delhi at 4 pm on 22nd March 2019.. Read More

Darjeeling -- The Salesian College Publication participating in the 23rd Annual Darjeeling District Book Fair held from 14 to 17 March 2019 won laurels for being the only college publication at the fair. The anuual book fair was organized by Darjeeling Book Fair Committee in Darjeeling's iconic Capitol Cinema Hall - a stone building with a clock standing 100ft high and used to house a 600-seat theatre from 1921 to 1984.. SIGA and MPLA Collaborate to Enrich Print Industry

Both the Insitutions of SIGA, Salesian Institute of Graphic Arts, Chennai and The Madras Print Lithographers Associations, the first association of printers in South India began in the year 1952. This year, seventy five Diploma students of Printing Technology were awarded the merit certificates by Father (Dr.) F.Andrew SJ, Principal of Loyola College, Chennai, Mr.G.N.Visvakumar, President of Madras Printers Lithography Association (MPLA), and Father Charles Gaspar, Former Principal of SIGA. Among several accolades, the Gold Medal adorned Mr.A.Gino of Government 3-year diploma course and Mr. Paul Jefferson of SIGA Private 3-year diploma course. The college graduation ceremony was organized by SIGA Polytechnic College at Don Bosco Kilpauk campus on 2nd March 2019 at 10 AM.. Read More

A group of Salesian Alumni coordinated the visit of Salesian Cardinal Charles Bo of Myanmar, current Archbishop of Yangon to Kolkata. The Cardinal was on a two day visit to meet with his ailing brother Mr Bernard. Cardinal also met his former Superiors and confreres at Salesian Provincial House, and paid a courtesy visit to Archbishop Thomas D'Souza of Calcutta. The Salesians of Don Bosco in South Asia have prepared a Youth Ministry Training Manual for those in Formation, based on the ''Salesian Youth Ministry: Frame of Reference.'' The tedious task undertaken by the members of DBYA-SA [Don Bosco Youth Animation-South Asia] Regional Team with the help of Salesians from different provinces of the South Asian Region was spearheaded by Father Maria Charles Antonysamy SDB.
