On 24 May 2014 six Salesians Of Tiruchi Province made their final commitment to the Lord. The Perpetual profession ceremony was held in the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Tiruchy-Amsam. Fr. On 24th May, the feast of Mary Help of Christians, nineteen young men made their First Religious Profession in the Society of St. Francis de Sales at 7.00 A.M. in Don Bosco Parish, Nashik. The Provincial of the Salesian Mumbai Province, Rev. Fr. Godfrey D`souza sdb presided at the solemn and meaningful and well-animated Eucharist, with several other Salesian Priests concelebrating. A State Level Consultation on Missing Children and Track Child System was organized by Kerala State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights in the State Capital of Kerala, Trivandrum, on 22 May 2014. Fr. Philip Parakatt SDB, Member of Kerala State Child Rights Commission, was the key Organizer of the Consultation. Fr. Philip belongs to the Salesian Province of Bangalore. Fr. Barnabe D`Souza from Mumbai Province was recently inducted into the Board of Administration of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU) based in Paris, as its Deputy Secretary General. He took charge of his duties on March 3, 2014, and assists Msgr. Guy Real Thivierge who has been the Secretary General of IFCU for the past 28 years. Fr. Barnabe, the 50 year old Salesian, is the first Salesian as well as the first Indian to be serving in this top office of the IFCU. There are currently about 200 members in this coordinating body which facilitates research, partnership and exchange programmes among Catholic universities and colleges the world over. . Read More »
