By Father Michael Makri sdb
Shillong, May. 8. Shillong: The day began with lauds animated by Fr. Joseph Palamthattel SDB. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rt. Rev. Stephen Rotluanga CSC DD. In his homily, the bishop appreciated the Salesians of the Province for the effort made by them to contribute to the mother Church by bringing integral formation through the various mission centres, schools and hostels. The Salesians have contributed in the training of prominent leaders from all walks of life. More emphasis, said the bishop, must be given to social transformation and not only to academic excellence. This can be achieved by giving stress on faith, value education and Catholic education. The Salesian is exhorted to be passionate about the proclamation of Christ which is also to be manifested externally in the mission. The greatest tool of a Salesian to attract the young today is by a joyful living which requires a Christ Centred life.
