By Fr. Thomas John
Guwahati, Feb. 22. In the morning the Chapter Members gathered in their respective groups for Lectio Divina which was followed by mass presided over by Most Rev. John Moolachira, Archbishop of Guwahati. Archbishop was very appreciative of the services we Salesians render in the diocese and asked us to continue our apostolate with even greater vigour. Fr. Johnson Parackal on behalf of the Salesians expressed words of gratitude to the Archbishop for coming over and presiding over the Eucharist.

At 9.00 am the General Assembly met in the hall to begin the next session, which began with a prayer, roll call and the reading of the Minutes of the Previous day by Fr. Abhilash Vadakkekara, the Chief of the Secretaries. The 4th session continued the discussion on the 'Priority of the Mission with the Youth'. At 10.30 am all the Chapter members assembled in front of Bosco Niwas for a photo session. The 5th and the 6th sessions, at 11 am and 1.30 pm were devoted to discussion and interventions on the topic 'Profile of the Salesian today'. At the 7th session at 3.15 pm, the third topic, namely, 'Shared mission between Salesians and Laity' was discussed and completed within two hours.
After having satisfactorily completed the discussion on the three nuclei, when the Chapter Members reassembled at 5.30 pm for the 8th session, 'Matters of a Juridical nature' was taken up for discussion and voting, article by article. Discussion on this topic could not be completed but since it was time to call it a day, at 7 pm the assembly had the Rosary and the Goodnight talk by Bro. Angelus Tete.
The climax of the day was the Cultural Evening by the Staff and Students of DBI from 7.30 to 8.30 pm. The Chapter members did not shy away but joined in the fun with an informal number, which was well appreciated by the students. Bro. Benjamin Indwar profusely thanked and lauded the efforts of the faculty and students of DBI for going out of their way to give us some time for relaxation and cheer.
