Yes Lord- Eight New Priests for the Salesian Province of Shillong

Shillong, Feb. 17. Shillong: Surrounded by thousands of Parishioners; their parents and relatives; Father Paul O Lyngkot, Salesian Provincial of Shillong. Father John Zosiama, Vice Provincial, Father Glorius Syiemlieh, Parish Priest and twenty eight priests and religious felicitated the new priests on 17th February 2019 at Divine Saviour Parish, Nongthymmai.

The felicitation programme begun with the Holy Mass presided by new priest Father Richard Rapthap. Father Michael Khongngain preached the homily, and stressed the need to 'Put God First' in our lives. He constantly reminded the faithful to 'Pray' and to 'Read the Word of God' in order to be blessed by Him. The Holy Mass was followed by a short cultural programme to thank God and to thank the new priests for saying 'YES' to God's invitation to be Candles in our darken world. In his short address, the Provincial urged the assembly to pray for vocations especially for the new priests, as they will begin their ministry among God's people. The felicitation programme ended with a Hymn to Don Bosco.

Here is a brief profile of the 8 New Salesian Priests form Shillong Province.
1. Father Kenny Nongrum: Born on 19th September 1987 in Pyndengrei Nongstoin is the son of Basil Blah and Bernadeth Nongrum. He made his First Profession on 24th May 2008 at Sunnyside, did his Philosophical studies at Salesian College Sonada from 2008 to 2011. He was sent to Italy for his regency and studies, in 2013 he made his Final Profession. He did his Theological Studies in Gerini, Italy and on 24th June 2017 Bishop Mauro Morfino SDB ordained him deacon. He was ordained a priest by Most Reverend Archbishop Dominic Jala, SDB on 30th December 2018 at St. Peter's Cathedral Parish Pyndengrei Nongstoin.

2. Father Anil Kido: Born on 15th January 1985 at Talsara Patratoly is the son of Albinus Kido and Dulari Kido. He made his first Profession on 24th May 2007 at Sunnyside. Completed his Philosphy and BA from Salesian College Sonada. He did his regency in Rongjeng, East Garo Hills in 2010-2911 and at Savio Juniorate in 2011- 2012. On 24th May 2013, he made his Final Profession and in 2014-2018, he was sent to Jerusalem, Israel to study Theology. He was ordained a priest on 6th January 2019 at Saunamara Parish, Odisha.

3. Father Junas Minj: Born on 28th June 1983 is the son of (L) Ernest Minj and (L) Rosalia Tigga. He made his first profession on 24th May 2009 and Final Profession on 24th May 2015. He did his regency in Pathialaghat and in Don Bosco School Tura. In 2015 he was sent to Sacred Heart Theological College Mawlai for his Theological studies. He was ordained Deacon on 1st July 2018 and on 3rd January 2019 Bishop Fulgense Aloysius Tiga of Raiganj Diocese ordained him priest.

4. Father Arnes Sohshang: Born on 30th March 1988 is the son of (L) Gabriel Lyngdoh Peinlang and Sistina Sohshang. He made his First profession on 24th May 2008 and on 24th May 2015, he made his final profession. He did his Philosophical studies in Yercaud Tamil Nadu from 2008-2010. From 2010-2012, he did his regency in Bamberg - Germany. He completed his Theological studies from Regensburg - Germany from 2012-2018 with his ordination to the diaconate. On 30th December 2018, Most Reverend Archbishop Dominic Jala, SDB, ordained him priest.

5. Father Richard Rapthap: Born on 21st May 1987 is the son of (L) Dominic Marbaniang and Philomina Rapthap. He professed as a Salesian on 24th May 2009 and in 2015 he made his Final profession. He did his BA and Philosophical Studies from Salesian College Sonada. From 2015-2018, he did his Theological Studies at Sacred Heart Theological College Mawlai and on 1st July 2018 he was ordained a deacon. He was ordained priest by Most Reverend Archbishop Dominic Jala, SDB on 19th January 2019 at the Cathedral of  Mary Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah.

6. Father Pyndeilang Khongkhlad: Born on  30th March 1982 is the son of (L) Gregory Khongwir and (L) Maria Theresa Khongkhlad. He made his first profession on 24th May 2010. He did his Philosophical Studies in Yercaud Tamil Nadu. He did his regency at Savio Juniorate Mawlai and Don Bosco Technical School Shillong. He did his Theological Studies at Sacred Heart Theological College Mawlai from 2015-2018. He was ordained a deacon on 1st July 2018. And on 19th January 2019, he was ordained priest by Most Reverend Archbishop Dominic Jala, SDB at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah.

7. Father Primus Syiem Khongjoh: Born on 11th June 1986 is the son of Elias Mallai and (L) Mary Carmel Syiem Khongjoh. He made his first profession on 23rd August 2006 at Zubza. Completed his BA and Philosophical studies from Salesian College Dimapur. He did his regency at Bosco Mount Rongkhon Tura. He was sent to Germany for his Theological studies and was ordained a deacon in 2018. On 19th January 2019, he was ordained priest by Most Reverend Archbishop Dominic Jala, SDB at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah.

8. Father Michael Khongngain: Born on 5th April 1980 is the son of George Lerentis Khongsit and Catharina Khongngain. He made his first profession on 24th May 2010. He did his Philosophical studies at Salesian College Dimapur from 2010 to 2013. He did his regency at Lawntlai Mizoram. On 24th May 2017 he made his final profession. From 2015-2018 he was sent to Sacred Heart Theological College Mawlai for his Theological studies. He was ordained a deacon on 1st July 2018 and on 19th January 2019, he was ordained priest by Most Reverend Archbishop Dominic Jala, SDB at the Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah.
