Kolkata Alumnus Bags Media Award

Kolkata, Nov. 23.  Kolkata -- Don Bosco School Liluah alumnus Dr Uma Shankar Pandey was honoured with the prestigious award in Assistant Professor category at the Media and Media Educators Summit held at India International Centre, New Delhi, 22 November 2018.

Events at IIC included Media Summit, Media Education Summit, Release of Media Educators' Directory, Media Educators' Award, and Media School rankings.

In a WhatsApp message from the summit Dr Pandey says, ''The best award for a teacher is the support and appreciation from students and colleagues. However the Best Media Educator in India (Assistant Professor category) Award from Business World Media Education Summit makes me feel humbled and honoured. Grateful to all friends and colleagues. Motivates me to work harder.''

Responding to the good news Kolkata Province Alumni Delegate Fr Bikash Mondol said, ''Feel great to know that alumnus member achieving such great award. We are proud of Mr Pandey and wish him all success ahead.''

Dr. Pandey is Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Surendranath College for Women, Kolkata, India (since September 2002).

DBL 1991 batch, Pandey completed his Masters and PhD. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Calcutta.

International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR) Ambassador in India, Dr Pandey is a Member of the Board of Studies at a number of Indian Universities.

He has presented papers at a number of International conferences at San Francisco, San Juan, Seattle, London, Dublin, Durban, Istanbul, Bangkok, Colombo, Hyderabad and Kathmandu.

Dr Pandey was earlier a senior Journalist with The Asian Age, Kolkata. Also an Editorial Board Member of a number of International Journals. He has published over 15 papers in refereed journals.

At present working on an International Project on Journalistic Role Performance and another UGC Project on New Media Literacy Dr Pandey's research interests include Framing of Election News and Study of Social Media Activity. He is also a visiting Faculty at a number of National and International universities.
