DBCM Participates in ''Fostering Civil-Military Relations'' Seminar

Dimapur, Jan. 8. DBCMaram 7: On 7th January, the students of Don Bosco College, Maram along with Sir Amit Kumar, lecturer of Department of Computer attended a seminar jointly organized by ''Red Shield Division and Manipur University'' at Centenary Hall, Manipur University, Imphal on the topic ''Fostering Civil-Military Relations''.
The programme started at 9:00am with a welcome address by, Prof. Amuba Singh, the Vice Chancellor of Manipur University, which was followed by a keynote address by Prof. Gangmumei Kamei, IAS, Shimla.
The first session consisted of a talks on the topics ''Effects of the Conflict on the Common Man'' by Miss Ratna Mutum of L.F.S., Imphal'', ''Current State of Civil-Military Relations in Manipur'' by Dr. Priyoranjan, Reader, Dept. of Economics M.U., ''Expectations from the Security Forces'' by Ch. Jamini Devi'', ''Voices of Manipur in Times of Protests and Conflicts-Manipur Experience'' by Dr. Khelena of M.U and ''Security Force's Perspective'' by Maj. Gen. DS Hooda, VSM, GOC, Red Shield Division. The talks of the first session were very practical to the common man of insurgency affected areas of Manipur.
No discussion is complete without concrete proposal for better tomorrow. The following  conclusions were drawn by different speakers:
a)Where there is faith, there will be love; and when there is love, there will be peace.
b)Civil-military relation is very important to heal the scars of the people and it can be done so by knowing the values of the people of the region.
c)When the dignity of Manipur is respected, much of the ill-feelings will be removed.
d)The need of ''Supermen'' felt by Manipur State to repair its torn areas, and Indian Army could be those ''supermen''.

The second session started soon after the tea-break. The session mainly discussed on the topics ''Youth as Harbinger of Peace and the Largest Stakeholders'' by Dr. Bimol Akoijam, JNU'', ''Civil-Military Synergy as a Vehicle of Peace'' by Mr. Rupachandra Yumnam, IS TV and ''Identifying Common Goals and Meeting Grounds'' by Dr. Bhagat Oinam, JNU.
The seminar was successfully ended with various solutions to the problems faced by the civil and military; and answering to the doubts of the parents, teachers, students and other civilians who attended the function. It also ensured steps to nourish better and healthier relationship for a prosperous Manipur.
