Maram Rocks with REX Band
By N. Samuel Doumimthang Baite
Dimapur, Oct. 27. ''Music Crosses over all boundaries and is a language that is experimental''.  A Christian music in particular is ultimately about the power and beauty of God. ''If music does not lead us, exhort us, challenge us, move us or empower us to seek God Almighty, it is futile''.
''Music Crosses over all boundaries and is a language that is experimental''.  A Christian music in particular is ultimately about the power and beauty of God. ''If music does not lead us, exhort us, challenge us, move us or empower us to seek God Almighty, it is futile''. Christian music in its authentic form brings out the mysterious and speaks the unspeakable, bringing to light that which is beyond human reason'' expressed John Michael Jalbol. True to it the Rex Band, as a true Christian musicians live what they sing and play.
The long awaited Rex band the first Indian Band to perform live for the world Youth Day, were on warmly welcomed to Don Bosco College, Maram, with a beautiful cultural dance and procession by the Maram Students on  the 26th Oct 09 after a long and tedious journey from Imphal to Maram. They were accommodated in different neighbouring families of the locality. APractice makes man perfect''. So were the Rex Band who practised late at night from 10:45pm -01:30 am on 26th and from 9:30am 01-30pm the next day. The Jesus Youth of DBC Maram organised chain intercession on 26th and 27th Oct for the success of the Rex Band show.
27th Oct, 2009 will remain in the history of the college as a red letter day as the Internationally acclaimed Christian music band, the Rex Band performed their three-hours of musical extravaganza from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at Don Bosco College ground.  The show was witnessed by more than 8000 people including important dignitaries like: Rev Fr.Linus the Vicar General of Imphal Archdiocese, four German benefactors, twenty five Xavier Board Executive members,  VIPs of different fields , fathers and sisters and students and people . It was a time of ''a call for renewal'' and ''God-experience'' through the enlightening and entertaining show. The show was the starting of the ''Rock for Peace Tour across the North Eastern states of India:  Manipur, Nagaland, Assam and Meghalaya.
The Rector of DBC Maram Rev Fr. P.O Sabastian welcomed one and all and Rev Fr. Linus invoked God=s blessings and the band began their show with the song ''Peace like a river'' in a well blended music which thrilled the audience. The show included also mesmerising choreography, captivating theatre performances, God-experience testimonies with  powerful   messages. The band invited audience to join in their songs in order to praise Jesus Christ, the king of kings, from whom they got their name Rex Band. The intercessory group went on praying simultaneously as the show went on behind the stage The band is the Music Ministry of Jesus Youth International movement whose performance is marked for its perfection, newness and uniqueness and are called ALive Wire connected to ETERNAL Power''. The lucky draw was drawn and results were declared during the show.
The organising Committee: Don Bosco Alumni, Don Bosco College and Jesus  Youth thanked the band for their spirit filled and wonderful performance, the MKS and NSS volunteers for their service and the well mannered audience for their response to the invitation and well disciplined behaviour.
The audience who flung to the venue like swamps of bees from 4:30 pm on now took leave with much joy and God-experience in their hearts, to muse the well blended notes they heard and with the desire to have the same privilege again. Anyone who desires to go to Sydney, Toronto, Germany, Chicago etc. to witness world famous bands performances would have said ANow my desire is fulfilled and I don't need to go so far''. The Rex Band had their dinner and left the College for Jakhama by 01:30 am, to continue their peace tour.
Long Live Rex-Band
