The European Audiovisual Observatory publishes major new study on Media Literacy

Mumbai, 2017 Apr 27 Strasbourg. Media literacy - our capacity to access, have a critical understanding of and interact with the media - has never been as important as today. It seems that every day, some ``fake news`` sets the internet alight, only to be revealed later as a hoax. In the era of #badbuzz we are literally swimming in a sea of information, advertising and just plain fiction. So what is Europe doing to encourage our media literacy? What measures are being taken at national and European levels to foster our critical appreciation and understanding of the mass media? Mumbai, 2017 Mar 01 Chennai : In the morning Father Angel Artime Fernandez, Rector Major celebrated the Eucharist and Father Filiberto Gonsalez, Coucillor for Social Communication preached the homily as we celebrated Ash Wednesday- ``Ash Wednesday comes from the ancient Jewish tradition of penance and fasting. The practice includes the wearing of ashes on the head. The ashes symbolize the dust from which God made us. As the priest applies the ashes to a person`s forehead, he speaks the words: ``Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.
